Cushman & Wakefield Residential Market Commentary – December 2018

Latest data from the UK House Price Index (UK HPI) shows house price inflation picking up slightly in September 2018, although it is unlikely this trend will follow through into data released in the latter part of the year.  The measure of UK rates of inflation in the two other main indices have aligned of late, with the Halifax and Nationwide both recording year-on-year growth for October 2018 at between 1.5-1.6%, running at approximately 1 percentage point below the UK HPI figure throughout 2018.  In regional terms, the Midlands remains the significantly outlier from the group, with annual rates of inflation still around 6%, compared with sub 2% growth rates in London and the South East.
